Last weekend we traveled down to beautiful Charleston, SC. There’s so much to see, do and eat. This southern town holds many memories for my family. Superman and I met in college down there.
Our daughter attends my old alma mater, the College of Charleston. We got to spend lots of precious time with her.
Can you tell where they got the name from? Luckily the female knobs don’t have to undergo the shears. Anyway, he basically did whatever his host knob did: formations, ate in the mess hall, slept in the barracks. The weekend program lets the high schoolers observe what they would be getting into next fall.
Charleston has the Battery with the amazing homes looking out over the water…colorful
Rainbow Row…Carriage rides, which I fully recommend!
It’s Charleston! It’s famous for the basket weavers, shopping, antiques, and FOOD!
There are way too many good places to eat to mention here. (But maybe I could make it my mission to try all of the restaurants to help you make better decisions. Yeah! That’s a great idea! Hee hee.) From gourmet, fried, southern, low country, sweet, exotic and “Slap-yo-momma” good, this city has it all.
One A-MA-ZING eatery is FIG, which is an acronym for Food Is Good. Oh yes,it is here.
The menu is made with seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients, thus the menu can change each time you go. Our table enjoyed all sorts of fish, seafood, pasta and probably the all time best puréed potatoes. Yup potatoes. So good. The desserts…mmmmm….the desserts. We like to order 3 or 4 different desserts then do the “take-a-bite-and-pass”. Can you say Salted Caramel Chocolate Flan?
Yes, we all had tender, flavorful steak cooked to perfection. Throw on the black truffle butter and you will melt with it. The Pepper Jack Creamed Corn Skillet knocked my socks off.
Oh yeah, and there was dessert. This was boy’s birthday cake….check out the layers.
Needless to say…although it rained the entire time we were there, it didn’t keep us from having a fabulous time spending special time together, laughing, eating and creating more special memories together. Thanks Superman!
