The other day Sam and I were going for a walk. This day I wanted to take a different route and bump our mileage up to 5 instead of 3. The weather was perfect with a cool breeze. When I looked at the sky in the direction I wanted to go, I saw big dark clouds. The weather forecast said rain, so I wondered if I should take a chance.
Have you ever hit a crossroads? You really felt like you should go in a certain direction, but there might (and I mean might) be some discomfort or hardship? Maybe you wanted to quit your job or maybe start a new career? Maybe you wanted to attend a different church than the one you’ve been going to for years? Maybe you’re thinking about moving out to the country or into the city?
You could lose a few friendships. Perhaps you’ll have to learn a few new skills. What if you don’t make it? Leaving behind what is comfortable and safe can become frightening. What if…GASP!…you fail?
Another good reminder of taking a chance. What once was an eyesore, now has become a hidden gem. It took a lot of hard work, but having an historic home renovated to its original glory brings value to my hometown.
What about your dream? Are there naysayers telling you it can’t be done? It’s too hard? It’ll cost too much? They may be right, but the results could also be worth so much more.
Just don’t forget to dream! When your heart becomes so excited about an idea, that you dream about it, think about it and talk about it. Keep dreaming. The time may not be now, but it doesn’t mean it can’t happen.
God has already laid out a plan for my life. If I can just continue to worship Him, live my life according to His Word and listen to Him, I have faith things will work out. Yes, I need to keep dreaming, but I also need to appreciate the place I am in right now. I know that someday I’ll come to another crossroad in my life and will have to make some big decision. Although the future looks full of rain, getting a little wet isn’t the worst thing that could happen.
Rejoice in The Lord always; again I say rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to Gid. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
