Are you as scared as I am? We have plans to go to Italy for Christmas. Should we go? Our church has lovingly welcomed refugees into our family, whom are forever grateful. Do we stop helping and reaching out to those around the world who are being persecuted? What about the innocent ones? Why are we still fighting to treat every human being as equal? Why can’t we see past someone’s color of skin or religion and just see the person God made? The presidential campaign is underway with all the bickering and finger pointing. Ugh.
I’m scared. There are days when I wake up with my stomach in knots thinking about the evil in this world.
But isn’t that what Satan wants us to do? He wants us to think about him. He wants us to run to temporary, selfish things…things that make us feel good for the moment. He wants us to question the Ultimate authority and to turn away from the One True Comforter-God.
I am choosing to turn to the one thing that I can count on. I choose to know the truth. I have to. If I don’t, then I’ll live in fear. I believe in one God who is supreme above everything else in the heavens and here on earth. He is bigger than the evil one.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Lord, I am mesmerized by the fall colors and the variety of leaves that are under my feet when I walk. The cool air gives me refreshing energy to breath deeply and praise you.
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Because of your great love for me Lord, I want to give my time ministering to the women at the homeless shelter. I want to cook, drive, sit with, write and give to those who might need a helping hand today. I am thankful to have the sort of schedule that allows me to go to Columbia each week to visit with my mom.
Come into his presence with singing!
Thank you God for the talented musicians and singers who lead us each week in church. As I sing along, I feel your presence in that gym. Thank you for the music that I can freely listen to and sing outloud in my car, in my home, even in public places that praises your good name.
Know that the Lord, he is God!
Lord, God, Almighty, Creator, Comforter, Father, Abba, Healer, Jesus, Holy Spirit, The First and the Last, Deliverer, Redeemer, Messiah, King of Glory, Prince of Peace, Yahweh, Advocate, Life, Light of the World, Savior.
It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Lord, you knew me before I was born. You knitted me in my mother’s womb. You know every hair on my head and every thought I have. You know how messy, sinful and screwed up I am, yet you love me so much. I don’t deserve to be called one of your own, but you call me your daughter.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
Lord, with all of the tragedy happening in this world today, I can choose to be afraid or choose to look to you. I can choose to stay in my house and hide or I can go boldly into the world and have faith in what is to come. The world needs you now more than ever. I see the beauty you have created and I know it is only a glimpse of what you have prepared for me in heaven. I am the most undeserving person to have a seat at your heavenly table, yet you have prepared a room just for me! Thank you!
For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Friends, the Lord is good. This we can count on. We have no idea what is going to happen tomorrow or the next day. We can not live in fear. No matter what tragedies may happen, God’s love never falters; it is the same day after day after day. Let’s focus on Him. Let’s pray for the fallen. Let’s pray for the ones whose hearts have been hardened.
John 10:16 “I have other sheep not of this fold. I must bring them also and they will listen to my voice. So there will be ONE FLOCK AND ONE SHEPHERD.”
Only Christ will unify the world with love.
Thanks for dropping by,
