Random Thanks

20131109-100656.jpgNovember is the month of “No Shave”, (which I promise I won’t participate in…eww!) and giving thanks. As you know, I’m in the process of writing down 1000 Gifts, so it makes me happy to see my friends and family posting the things they are thankful for on social media sites every day this month.

20131109-145304.jpgThis is my calendar of daily prompts and the journal I write them in.

Being a Domestic Godess/Jackie-of-all-trades/Diva of the Domicile/Domestic Engineer/Project Manager/CEO/Keeper of the Castle/Wonder Woman….or my favorite- Queen, I work hard at my job. The hundreds of tasks I do each day don’t require a masters degree, but each helps this home run pretty smoothly. I’m a simple gal. A little thank you goes a long way.

Mom, dinner was dope!

Thank you for washing my clothes!

Momma, I love you!

(Insert a big hug.)
I started thinking about other people I run into every day that are just doing their job. How would it make them feel if they were just thanked? Told how they were appreciated? Sooo…I decided to make some quick and easy thank you cards to hand out this week. I thought about my mail carrier, garbage men, car repair guys, veterinary clinic, hair dresser and some friends. What about the cashier at the grocery store who’s line you get in because she’s quick? Your child’s teacher? Someone at church who volunteers their time to set up chairs or have the coffee ready or teaches Sunday school?

I’m not going to make a big deal out of delivering the cards. In fact, I’ll probably just put it on the mailbox, garbage can or the door to the office. I just want to bring a smile to their face.

Gettin’ My Craft On

It’s Monday and Mary is gettin’ her craft on! Did a little dusting and vacuuming, so I can relieve myself of some guilt for being in my craft room for a bit.

Thomas asked if I would shorten his shorts for him from 8 1/2 inches to 7 1/2 inches.

20130916-171428.jpgEasy Peasy!

Opened my journal to write a few prayers to see that I had written…

This is my command- be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, For The Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

I had written that during a tough period of parenting.

20130916-171903.jpgI thought Adam might need this encouragement as gets through his first year at the Citadel. So I made him a card.

Well, if I’m sending the boy a card, I should send one to my girl.

20130916-172430.jpgI can’t say this the prettiest card I’ve ever made, but it was fun cutting and glueing.

While I was on a roll, I went back over to the sewing machine to finish up a tennis skirt I had started.

20130916-172616.jpgExcept, when I tried it on to see about where to cut it for the length, I really liked it longer! I decided to leave it as it is. It just might be the skirt I wear to a banquet in October. Can always make it shorter, just not longer.

Today was a good day! How has your day been going?
Hey Thanks for dropping by!
