Easter Wreath

The wind is blowing a freezing chill through my bones. The sun is out, but I can’t feel it’s warmth. I’m a G.R.I.T.S.- a Girl Raised In The South. I’m a wimp when it comes to cold weather.

I really needed to trick my mind into thinking its spring outside, so I made an Easter wreath for my front door.

20130306-165315.jpgI chose some pink and yellow mesh fabric. Looks cheerful!

20130306-165508.jpgA wire frame and some chenille stems (or pipe cleaners, as us, old schoolers would say).

20130306-165810.jpgAt the cut end of the fabric, gather the material pinch by pinch. Now hold onto it in one hand. With the other hand measure out approximately 8 inches or so down the roll from your hand and pinch in again.

20130306-170434.jpgAttach those two gathered areas with a pipe cleaner. The color doesn’t have to match perfectly, but something that blends well is good. You now have a puffy loop!

20130306-170742.jpgTime to attach this loop to the frame. One down and the rest of the roll to go. Measure out 8 inches or so-gather-twist the tie around-attach to frame. Allll the way around!

20130306-171058.jpgWhen I finished attaching the poofs, I decided that it needed a ribbon or something. I found some goldish colored ribbon in my stash. I danced it around the wreath twisting it in with the pipe cleaners that were there.

20130306-171628.jpgBeing an Easter wreath, I painted a cross to hang in the center. Hobby Lobby had these wooden ones on sale.

20130306-171746.jpgOh Yea! Gotta have some glitter!

20130306-171844.jpgSo much for painting my nails….that lasted less than a day.

20130306-172205.jpgthis is the backside of the cross. I’m so lazy I didn’t even paint the backside. If this was going to be hung on a door with a window, I would have finished it on both sides. But I don’t, so I didn’t!
The ribbon around the middle of the cross is there to give me something attach the wire to.

20130306-172641.jpgTA-DAAA! I put a butterfly up there too.
Up close I like it.

20130306-172953.jpgbut from far away, it looks a little too orange. I may need to tweak it a bit. Anyway, I am happy with the results.Come on Spring!
